art has always been my anchor.

About the Artist

My journey through the world of art

My swan drawing was displayed in the Texas State Capitol. I was 5 years old and for the first time, I felt empowered to create good art. Although I didn’t know the word “empowered” – looking back, that moment instilled a sense of “I am good at this/I can do this”.

Throughout elementary school, I loved every minute of art class (I still remember my art teachers and the details of the lessons they taught 🤍). Although I wasn't great at acting, I found joy and community in building and painting sets for high school theater. At Texas A&M, non-art majors couldn’t get slotted in painting classes. Frustrating as that was, I made time for it outside of my International Studies degree. I started with acrylics and gradually fell in love with oils, even weaving Arabic calligraphy into my work as I learned the language and dialects.

My path led me from teaching elementary school in Saudi Arabia to assisting refugees in Greece, where I began painting from life along the stunning Greek coastline. Returning to Austin in 2018, painting was my full-time passion alongside work as a contracted Arabic data analyst at Apple. Encouraged by friends and family, I discovered plein air painting and felt instantly addicted to capturing a moment in time.

My dad bought me a pochade box, and my art has only improved with the flexibility and freedom to paint outside. Soon after, I started receiving requests for commissioned pieces, which felt surreal but flattering and reassuring.

Discovering plain air painting

Art became my anchor and outlet through every chapter; from Army training in Arizona to deployment in Iraq, where my pochade box was a creative lifeline. Even during COVID lockdowns at Fort Bragg, painting helped me stay grounded.

After stepping away from my brush to focus on motherhood, my passion for creating art that brings warmth and character into people’s homes has only grown stronger.

Now, with my little ones are slightly (and I mean slightly) more independent, I’m leaning fully into creating meaningful, wholesome art you love to hang throughout your home.

Thank you for being here.
