Rock Ledge Barn

I painted this piece inspired by the historic barns and quiet winter landscape of Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site, wanting to preserve a softer, slower version of Colorado Springs rooted in craftsmanship, land, and community. During our first months settling into Colorado as a family, I worked from a reference photo I had taken earlier at the ranch, using a restrained palette of warm neutrals, softened greens and blues, and muted shadows to capture the feeling of late winter giving way to spring.

Part of my “Preserving the Springs” series, this painting serves as an archive of the places and atmospheres that continue to shape the city’s identity as it grows and changes.
